Is Travel The Best Industry To Start A Side Hustle In?

Affiliate marketing, Amazon FBA, digital products....
Dropshipping, faceless marketing, selling printables... there are more opportunities than ever before to earn an additional income online. But with it comes the fact that there are also more people than ever before competing for attention and sales.
But I believe there's an industry that naturally has a few more advantages over the others...
One that people already spend money on and genuinely enjoy investing in.
One that isn't based on convincing people they need something they never wanted in the first place because it's almost always on their wish list....
Travel.
So here are a few reasons I think travel as a business deserves far more attention than it often gets....
1. People Already Want To Buy Travel

Most businesses have to create demand.
Travel doesn't.
Millions of people are already searching for holiday destinations, city breaks, family vacations, luxury escapes and weekend getaways every single day. They're comparing hotels, looking for deals, planning their next adventure.
You rarely need to persuade someone that travelling is a good idea which puts you at a significant advantage because they're already "sold" on travel. All you need to do is simply help them make better travel purchasing decisions.
2. Travel Isn't A One-Off Purchase
Unlike many physical or digital products, travel isn't something people buy once and never think about again.
Families book annual holidays. Couples celebrate yearly anniversaries. Friends plan annual reunions, girls trips and city breaks.
Many people travel multiple times each year which means that the industry naturally lends itself to repeat business and long-term relationships.

3. You Benefit Personally Too
In many industries, you're helping other people buy products you'll possibly never personally use.
Travel can be different. Because if you're already someone who enjoys travelling, you can benefit from the same platforms, tools or memberships you're recommending to others and that creates a powerful alignment and authenticity that's difficult to ignore.
4. Travel Creates Endless Content Ideas

One challenge many business owners face is knowing what content to post and what marketing to do.
Travel solves that problem by itself.
Every destination creates tons of content angles. Every hotel review or savings comparison is a piece of genuinely useful information for people. Every itinerary, travel tip, hidden beach or budget breakdown becomes another piece of helpful, problem solving content.
This means you don't have to invent problems and dig deep into content pillars or personal branding ideas - you simply inspire and answer the questions travellers are already asking.
5. It Offers More Than One Way To Earn

Running a travel business doesn't just mean one thing - depending on your interests, it could include:
Writing a travel blog.
Creating Pinterest or social media content.
Sharing hotel comparisons.
Affiliate partnerships.
Travel memberships.
Becoming a travel advisor.
Selling destination guides or itineraries.
Building an email newsletter for travellers.
That flexibility means people can build something that suits both their personality and the amount of time they have available.
In Conclusion...
I can understand why so many people choose to build businesses around travel and I can clearly see why it's such an exciting option.
The demand for it already exists.
People return to it again and again.
There's no shortage of content to create.
And perhaps most importantly, it's an industry built around something many of us already spend time and money enjoying.
So if you're looking for a business that's flexible, enjoyable and built around helping people create memorable experiences, I think travel deserves to be part of the conversation.
Could Travel Be Your Side Income?
It's exactly what I'm doing - building a travel business that fits around my life and other roles, helps people travel for less and giving me the opportunity to create an additional income from an industry I'm genuinely passionate about.
If you’d like to understand the travel membership business I’m building (it's not a Travel Agency thing!), I’m happy to explain what’s involved - the costs, how earning works and what I actually spend my time doing. You can then decide whether it’s something you’d like to explore too.
